My Top 10 Travel Must Haves
Let’s face it, travel can be stressful. The people, noises or cramped environments can test even the seasoned traveler.
Packing lists will vary but I always recommend traveling with items that can make you feel comfortable, sane and enhance your travel experience.
Whether you’re navigating through an airport or enjoying a moment of solitude on a beach, these travel must-haves will make all the difference.
Here are my top 10 travel essentials:
1. Sony Noise-Canceling Headphones
Listen, if I don’t have my headphones, I’m probably staying home. As an introverted, easy-to-overstimulate traveler, my noise cancelling headphones have saved my sanity more than I can explain. I once sat beside two rowdy toddlers on a 12 hour flight… I slept like a baby and did not hear them, not once. Their mother was shocked and asked me to recommend the headphones. Life. Saver. Say goodbye to the chaos around you. Whether it’s the hum of the airplane engine or the chatter of fellow passengers, these headphones will help you tune it all out. With top-of-the-line noise cancellation, they’ll keep you immersed in your favorite music, podcast, audiobook or (my fav) nature sounds app! Long flights or bus rides are more enjoyable plus, they’re incredibly comfortable to wear, which is always a bonus!
2. Kindle Paperwhite
I love paper books but seriously, if you’re still traveling with paper books, it’s time to upgrade. Kindle Paperwhite is a game-changer. It holds thousands of books, so you never have to worry about running out of reading material. The glare-free screen is perfect for reading outdoors (hint: the beach), and the adjustable light makes it easy to read in any lighting conditions. Travel is a perfect time to get lost in a really good book, and Kindle makes that possible anywhere.
3. Personal Hand Fan
By far, this is the most requested item I travel with. Everywhere I go, I am asked where did I get it. Yes, I am known as the fan girl because this peri-menopause is no joke. It may be hot outside but that inside heat will take you out! When the heat becomes unbearable, this simple hand fan has your back. Perfect for tropical destinations, hot train rides or just circulating stuffy air. It’s sturdy, efficient, rechargeable and large enough to make a noticeable difference when the temperature rises. You’re welcome.
4. Personal Hand Fan (Compact size)
Sometimes, you just need a compact option to keep things cool. This small hand fan is portable enough to toss in your bag and use on-the-go. It’s a lifesaver for sightseeing in sunny cities or waiting in long queues. Bonus points for its quiet operation, so you can discreetly cool off.
5. Tripod
This tripod is essential if you love capturing memories with beautiful photos. Compact and easy to carry, it ensures your camera stays steady for those picture-perfect shots. Especially for solo female travelers, a compact tripod is a must whether you’re snapping selfies with stunning backdrops or getting that long shot without relying on the kindness of strangers. It’s the perfect travel companion for anyone looking to up their photo game.
6. Dry Bags
I have found countless users for dry bags. Not only to protect your electronics, snacks, and even clothes from getting soaked, but also to keep your wet, dirty or smelly items from messing up other items in your bag. I always carry at least one in my day bag and they are available in various sizes, perfect for a city tour or outdoor adventure.
7. Travel Bag
A good travel bag should offer ample space while keeping things organized. Whether you’re going for a weekend getaway or an extended trip, this bag has compartments for everything, making packing and unpacking a breeze. Its lightweight and comfortable design is easy on my shoulders and its the perfect personal item size to stuff underneath your seat on flights. I love the luggage sleeve and full extension for all the extra stuff and space I need.
8. Waterproof Pouch
Waterproofing your belongings is a necessity when you’re out on the water or out and about in unpredictable weather. This waterproof pouch solves the problem of what to do with your valuables when you’re at the beach… take them with you! Perfect for families or solo travelers, it’s small, lightweight and holds your phone, money or anything else you need.
9. Hat Clip
A hat is an essential accessory for sun protection, but what do you do when you need to take it off? This clever hat clip lets you securely attach your hat to your bag, so you don’t have to worry about losing it. It’s compact and functional because of the strong magnet and really holds my hat well, 5 stars.
10. Zippered Pouches
Organization is key when traveling, and this zippered pouch helps you keep everything in place. Perfect for cosmetics, toiletries, or any small items that tend to get lost in the bottom of your bag. The large size ensures you can fit a variety of items while keeping them easily accessible when you need them. The small size is great for your charger, cords and other small electronic accessories.
There it is, my travel must haves, my favs. Have you used any of these before? Let me know which ones you swear by for your travels!
